{ Easter Wreath DIY}

And here I am again! Today I want to show you a little DIY idea you can work on in the next few days before the weekend, an idea perfect to decorate your home for Easter.

The idea is very simple: an Easter wreath. Wreaths are certainly more common for Christmas, but I love the springtime version.

MATERIALS:
1 or more wreaths (personally I like the shabby rustic ones but there’s many different styles available).
Fabric scraps (I’ve chosen neutrals and in the end I’ve decided to use only one, but  I recommend you to try with the lovely pastel tones typical of this season!).
The free printable birdies templates that you can download on my blog DailySuze here: http://www.dailysuze.com/blog5.php/2011/04/19/easter-wreath-tutorial
Stuffing material.
Sewing tools.
And you can add: buttons, sequins, decorative eggs, flowers and other embellishments… (I’ve kept my wreath very minimalist just to give you even more freedom for your own version).
COST:
Low.
DIFFICULTY LEVEL:
Intermediate.
TIME NEEDED:
If you’re not a sewing expert allow a couple of hours.

OCCORRENTE:
Aggiungete a piacere: perline, paillettes, ricami, bottoni, ovetti, fiorellini…

First step: trace the bird template onto the fabric. Cut out two of them.

Sew around the body of the bird with 4-5 mm seam allowance and leave a little opening as shown above. Turn your bird right side out. Use a pencil or a stick to poke out the beak and the tail. Finally, stuff the bird and carefully close it with invisible stitches.

And here it is! Now you could do a thousand different things with your birdies: a brooch would be lovely, or a placeholder for your Easter table or just add some lavender in the stuffing to perfume your linen closet…
But now back to our Easter wreath idea.  You can create mini-wreaths like the ones shown below or…

…Or you can sew several birdies in different sizes (and different fabric patterns if you want) and arrange them to create a bigger Easter wreath like this one:

I hope you found this brief tutorial inspiring for your home decor and I wish you happy Easter holidays! See you soon!
