{In cucina: Cookies all'avena}

Cookies all'avena e mirtilli disidratati.

(photo - Gaia Borzicchi)

Ingredienti:

200 gr di zucchero
1 cucchiaio di miele
100 gr di burro
1 uovo

Buona colazione e buon weekend a tutte!!

{In cucina: Corzetti Liguri}

Buon fine settimana a tutte voi e ...
tanti auguri mamma, tanti auguri mamme!

{Strawberry Jam}

Good morning!

Finally, yesterday I made Strawberry Jam!
I was at home all they long because of the rain and I made it.

Strawberries are my fav fruit.
I made ice cream
Strawberry crumble and today I show you my recipe for Strawberry Jam..

Buon giorno!

What do you need?
Gli ingredienti sono:

Wash them gently
Lavatele con cura

Cut them in small pieces
Tagliatele a pezzettini

Add the sugar and the lemon juice ( I add also the lemon zest)

Let rest them for an entire night.
Put the mix in a pan and boil stirring gently. Skim foam with a skimmer.
Boil the jam for 20 minute or till you'll reach the right density.

Pour the jam in the sterilized jars. Make sure you fill it up to the top.
Close tightly and turns them upside down.
Let cool completely, turn around and store in the dark for at least 2 weeks before to eat it.

I've used also little cute jars ... they are perfect for a gift with the homemade bread!!

I need to make the tags and they are ready...

(photos by me - do not use them without permission)

Let me know if you make it!!!
I need to fill and color my world and my life...that's isn't always easy!!

This is my world...Alice's world!
Have a great week!!!

Buona settimana a tutte voi!

{ Back to the Kitchen }

The past weekend has been my first free weekend since I got back form holidays in August.
As you can imagine I was a bit disorientated but only for the first two minutes... then when I've realized that I was FREE to do all the things I wanted to do... I jumped on the bed and I sang in pajama cleaning the house... I have the new Florence & the Machine album... and I love her... I'm sorry for my neighbors!

I went to the gym and in the afternoon I spent 3 hours to my trustworthy hairstylist... I'm red not as Florence but you can see it the color...and I love it!!!!  I feel so better... people say the a woman change the color of her hair when she need changes, I need changes yes but I just wanted to give a sense to my hair!!!!

Mi sento meglio, in ordine...

Yesterday I spent the morning in the kitchen.
Cooking is one of my passion. I made a jam&apples pie, pumpkin soup and potato soup and Muffin Matcha.

Matcha is a green tea, originated in Japan where it was served only to royalty and the powder is used also in kitchen .
I had some matcha powder since a long time and I've been  dieing to use it to make some muffins

Flour/farina 200 gr
Butter/burro 200 gr
Sugar/zucchero 180 gr
Eggs/Uova 3
Milk/Latte (she used soy milk/lei ha usato quello di soya) 3 tbsp/ cucchiai
Matcha 2 tbsp/ cucchiai
Baking powder/ lievito 1 tsp/cucchiaino
Dried Raspberry/ lamponi disidradati

Make a mix of: Flour+Baking powder+Matcha
Butter+Sugar = beaten till very creamy and soft

Add the eggs, one at the time.
When the cream is fluffy add the mixture of flour, baking powder and Matcha.
Add dried raspberry.

 Mischiate : Farina+Lievito+Matcha

Aggiungete i lamponi disidradati.

Prepare the muffin liners into each cup of a muffin pan

I've made two sizes muffins.
Ne ho fatti di due misure.

Fill the liners and bake them at 180° for 30/40 minutes.
Riempite i pirottini, io tendo a riempirli molto, e cuocete in forno a 180° per 30/40 minuti.

Et Voilà!

(credits - photos by me do not use them without my permission)

I've covered some of them with lemon glaze
(Thank you Ale for your recipe)

What do you think?
Next time
Pumpkin soup!!!

Cosa dite?

Have a fantastic begin of week...

A big hug to Sarah and to her city

Buon inizio settimana a tutte...

See ya...

{ Family Kitchen }

This is the room I love the most of my family home in Tuscany!
It has been totally renovated few years ago.
My mom is the master of that change.

E' stata totalmente ristrutturata qualche anno fa.
Mia mamma (ovvio!) è stata l'artefice del cambiamento!

The floor is the protagonist of the kitchen. It's an old blue and white floor and it's from his colors that she started.
The blu, in all of his nuances, is the only colors she used: for handmade curtains at the windows and to cover the "ugly" appliances, for towels and for some porcelaines and for the chair.
Cream, white, greys made the rest.

The furnitures are some old furnitures of the bathroom that she painted and transformed giving a shabby touch to the room

Chair or little ladder?
Sedia o scaletta?

I love to cook and bake and a kitchen like this, big, with a lot of natural light and lots of space to lean on is heaven!
I dream a kitchen like this, mine in Bologna is like a shell!

Rustic accessories add color and character  to the kitchen.

Summer fruits...

All the enamels, aluminums, porcelaines and the other objects are the collections that my mom put together in years.

Isn't she a great teacher?
E' o non è una brava insegnante?

(photos by me - do not use them without permission)

So what do you think...
My mom did really a good job!

See you tomorrow!

A domani!

{Friday's Kitchen}

I love French dishes and in particular vegetable dishes. This is the perfect season to prepare a good Ratatouille , a provencal dish from Nice a city that I adore.

Easy to prepare, it's usually served as a side dish but it can be also served with pasta or rice. I like it with cous cous and chicken!

Add all the vegetables you like, extra virgin oil some spices, pepper and salt and... Tadà...

I'd love to have a lunch with all of you... Just think about it! Wouldn't be nice to stay toghether for few hours, good food, great cold wine and lots of chats?

Thanks girls for your visit!

{Friday's Kitchen}

I don't like to sit twiddling my thumbs (or with my hands in my lap). I don't know if you understand what that means but the thing is that I like to be always in movement, doing things, making things, baking some goodies or "creating" new stuff. While I'm doing something, my mind think to the things I want to do next... Sounds crazy? Maybe, but that's how it is...

After spending (successfully, for me!) an entire day trying to improve my abilities with the sewing machine (I've made my pillows!!), this morning I've made Strawberry Jam!

There is a difference between marmalde and jam. Usually Marmalade is made from Citrus fruits, Jam from sweet fruits.

My mom use to make jam with seasonal fruits and I learned how to make homemade jams.

It's very easy and it could be a nice present for your friends. You can make your own label, packing the jam with some goodies and voilà you have a very nice present!

Making and canning your own jam is quite easy. You just need 1 kg of fresh strawberries, 1 kg of sugar, a large saucepan and jars (I've used 30cl jars because they are nicer if it's a gift but you can choose whatever size you want).

Wash the strawberries in plain cold water and remove the hulls. In a heavy bottomed saucepan, mix together the strawberries, sugar.
Stir over low heat until the sugar is dissolved. Increase heat to high, and bring the mixture to a full rolling boil. Boil, stirring often, until the mixture is not more liquid but reach the right consinstency.

Transfer to hot sterile jars, leaving a bit of space from the top, and seal.

You can store the jams for a year so you will have fresh strawberries whenever you want!
